Hey, there! I'm LeMira, the lucky mom of a little boy, (J.R.) who has already had a long, hard road. He was born at 25 weeks and had quite the adventure in the NICU and received speech therapy, vision therapy, and occupational therapy immediately following his release from the hospital. I was told that he would probably always be behind in school and would probably have some form of learning disability. (They tell that to all moms of preemies as a blanket statement.) J.R. defied the odds and began walking at a very normal age. He caught up just about everywhere, except in his social skills. When he was four years old, we learned about SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) and wondered if that was our son. He seemed to fit parts, but not all of it. At age 5, I considered ADD and Auditory Processing Disorder, and neither of those fit either. It was Natalie, who has been been my friend since Jackson was 6 months old (and is now my best friend), who educated me on PDD-NOS. At age 6, J.R. was finally been diagnosed with PDD-NOS. He is now 9 years old.
We adopted another son in 2011 when J.R. was 7 years old. We currently reside in Utah.
